At Kings Cliffe Endowed Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive education in which every child is valued, supported and given the opportunity to thrive.

We recognise that every child is unique and that children may have different strengths, needs and starting points. We aim to identify and remove barriers to learning so that all pupils can participate fully in school life, access an ambitious curriculum and achieve their potential.

Inclusion is the responsibility of everyone in our school. Teachers have high expectations for all pupils and use high-quality teaching, appropriate adaptations and additional support to ensure that learning is accessible and challenging.

Supporting Children with SEND

Special educational needs and disabilities are generally considered within four broad areas of need:

• Communication and interaction
• Cognition and learning
• Social, emotional and mental health
• Sensory and/or physical needs

These broad areas help schools to identify and plan support, but we recognise that every child is an individual and may have needs across more than one area.

Where a child needs additional support, we work with children and their families to identify their needs, put appropriate provision in place and regularly review their progress.

We believe that the best outcomes are achieved when school, families and other professionals work together. Parents and carers know their children best, and we value their involvement in identifying needs, planning support and reviewing progress.

Our SENDCo

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Bronwen Foster.

If you have any concerns about your child’s learning, development or additional needs, we encourage you to speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. You can also contact Mrs Foster through the school office.

The North Northamptonshire Local Offer brings together information about services and support available for children and young people aged 0–25 with special educational needs and disabilities and their families.

It provides information about education, health and care services, activities, support groups and other provision available locally.

SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SEND IASS)

North Northamptonshire SEND IASS provides free, confidential and impartial information, advice and support to children and young people with SEND and their parents and carers.

The service can help families understand SEND processes, explore their options and make informed decisions.
