Wellbeing Buddies

Our Wellbeing Buddies help to make playtimes happy, welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

They are positive role models who look out for other children, particularly anyone who may be feeling lonely, finding it difficult to join in or needing a little help. Through kindness, encouragement and positive play, our buddies help children to enjoy their time together on the playground.

What Do Wellbeing Buddies Do?

Our Wellbeing Buddies:

  • help children to make new friends and feel included
  • look out for children who may be lonely or need someone to play with
  • encourage positive and fair play
  • introduce and teach playground games
  • help children find simple solutions when small problems arise
  • offer reassurance and comfort when someone is upset
  • model kindness, fairness and positive behaviour
  • help to look after playground equipment and encourage others to use it responsibly

Being a Wellbeing Buddy gives children the opportunity to develop their own confidence, empathy, communication and leadership skills, while helping to make our playground a positive and supportive place for everyone.
