This page is here to help you understand and assist with, your childrens' home works.  Under each year group you will find some guidence and examples of what the children have been learning and what is expected from their work each week.  Examples will include such things as the structure of number sentences and the grammatical structure of a written sentence.

If you have any doubts about home work or understanding of how the children are working and can't find the solution here please come and talk to the teahcers as they are always happy to help.

KEY STAGE 1

Foundation

Year 01

The children will be asked to complete a ‘Learning Journal’ as part of their
homework. They will be asked to demonstrate their learning from literacy,
numeracy, and phonics or topic sessions that week, and they may choose their
own way of doing so. Please see the front of their Learning Journal for further
details and ideas.
Reading is expected to take place every day at home. Please make a record of
your child’s reading in their red reading journal. As well as listening to their word
decoding and fluency, check your child’s understanding of what has been read
by asking them questions about the text.
Homework will be given on Fridays for completion by the following Thursday.
Please support your child with their work as speaking and listening activities will
be regularly set, especially in the area of phonics.

Year 02

Please continue to hear your child read as often as you can and make comments about how they are getting on. It is important that your child understands and can talk about what they are reading, as well as decoding the words. Please use the suggested questions handed out at Parents’ Evening to help you with this.

Each week the children will be given some spellings to learn at home. If you wish to extend them further, you could ask them to put each word into a sentence in their spelling book. The children will also be asked to complete a ‘Learning Journal’ as part of their homework. They will be asked to demonstrate their learning from literacy, mathematics or topic sessions that week, and they may choose their own way of doing so.

Spellings and homework will be given on Fridays for completion by the following Thursday, when spellings will also be tested.
